Concept

action readiness regarding one's identities as a key feature of IBM

Action readiness means one's degree to behave in a way aligning with one's cued/targeted identities. If people behaved in a way that doesn't align with their cued identities, they tend to question that part of their identity. For example, a student who views themself as a hard-working-student and who doesn't do well in a test one day might ask themself: "Am I really a good student?" To avoid that incongruency, people tend to behave in ways that match their identities and the implications that come with them, e.g. most students who view themselves as hard-workign students will work hard to be well prepared for the next test.
