Additional Driving Forces of Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)

Some factors which are not yet recognized by the DSM-5 may motivate the avoidant/restrictive eating behaviors in ARFID:

  • Mental inflexibility
  • Need for control/routine
  • Different sensory experience of feeding/eating
