Addressing Socioeconomic Achievement Gaps
Research indicates that academic achievement gaps are strongly influenced by socioeconomic disparities among students' families. While eliminating these large-scale socioeconomic differences would theoretically equalize student performance, such interventions are difficult to implement. Therefore, researchers recommend that the most practical approach to reducing academic achievement gaps is to implement targeted programs specifically designed to foster aptitude and achievement among children from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.
