In their article Mountz gives the advise that slow professoring can look like organizing your department to have a culture around writing fewer emails (which Mountz accompanies with a discussion of the political implications at a university of not responding to an email). Similarly, Mountz reframes saying no to asks as a professor to sharing resources and opportunities that get sent with less secure junior academics.

These critiques of not taking into account the cost of slow professors were addressed by Alison Mountz in the article " For Slow Scholarship" where instead of offering advise to individual professors Mountz centers framing action as collective and complicated and the move to slow professoring as a move that cannot be sustainably made by an individual professor.
