Amygdala and Nucleus Accumbens Damage in Sexual Motivation

Damage to the amygdala and nucleus accumbens results in a decreased motivation to engage in sexual behavior. However, this damage leaves the physical ability to engage in sexual behavior intact, demonstrating a clear dissociation between sexual motivation and sexual ability.
