Analyzing a Work-Leisure Decision

Alex is a freelance consultant who currently works 40 hours per week. They have an opportunity to take on a small, additional task that would require one extra hour of work and would pay $120. Alex values their free time highly; they feel that giving up an hour of leisure would require at least $90 in compensation for them to feel it was a fair trade. Despite this, Alex decides not to take the extra task, stating, 'I'm already earning enough and I want to maintain my current work-life balance.'

Analyze Alex's decision. Based purely on the trade-offs described, is Alex making the choice that maximizes their overall satisfaction? Explain your reasoning by comparing the benefit of the extra work to its personal cost.
