Analyzing Pitfalls in a Self-Refining AI Tutor

An AI tutoring system is designed to help students with multi-step algebra problems. The system first generates a high-level plan. It then executes the first step, checks its own work for correctness, and refines the step if an error is found. It repeats this process for each subsequent step until the final answer is reached. Analyze two distinct, significant challenges this multi-cycle, self-correcting design introduces that would not be present if the AI simply generated the entire solution in a single attempt.
