Analyzing Suboptimal Consumption Choices

Consider an individual making a choice between consumption today and consumption in the future. Explain in detail why a consumption plan located at a point where their indifference curve intersects (but is not tangent to) their budget constraint is considered suboptimal. In your explanation, contrast the individual's personal willingness to trade future for present consumption with the market's rate of trade at that point, and describe how they could adjust their consumption to reach a higher level of satisfaction.
