Analyzing Work-Leisure Decisions

Two groups of workers, Group A and Group B, have different work patterns. Group A has a lower hourly wage and works more hours per week than Group B, which has a higher hourly wage. A manager suggests that if Group A's wage were increased to match Group B's, they would then choose to work the same number of hours as Group B. Based on your understanding of economic models of choice, critique the manager's suggestion. In your analysis, explain the two conflicting effects of a wage increase on the choice of free time and discuss why differences in preferences are a more likely explanation for the initial observation.
