Annihilation, the Fire of Eternity, and the Illusion of Existence in Attar's Mokhtar Nameh (Chapter 8, Poem 8)
This concept explains the theological and mystical themes in Chapter 8, Poem 8 of Attar's Mokhtar Nameh:
- Annihilation and Peace: The annihilated soul (fana) is liberated from the disquietude and distress of individual ego.
- Eternity through Fire: True eternal subsistence (baqa) is attained only by passing through the purifying fire of divine love.
- The Illusion of Existence: Since the origin of the universe is non-existence ('adam), attachment to temporal existence is a delusion that prevents true spiritual joy.
