Static Illustrated Text 

The parts that are relevant to the graph are taken out of the text and are put as annotations on the graph.

Explanatory Annotation

This approach is visually identical to the Static Illustrated Text, but the parts that are relevant to the visualization are highlighted. When putting mouse over those parts, the corresponding aspects of the graph are highlighted (e.g., changing color).
