Integrative Body Psychotherapy is a holistic approach to treatment, integrating multiple modalities. IBP aims to increase awareness of the ways the body and mind relate and address obstacles to well-being. IBP practitioners teach individuals how to recognize and understand steps they can take to move away from these obstacles. IBP is considered to be a helpful approach for somatization, relationship concerns, and the effects of past trauma.

This study, "The efficacy of group treatment for survivors of childhood abuse," examined change in relation to a feminist model for group therapy. The focus of the group was for each individual to “tell their story” in a safe and supportive environment. The group is led by two co-therapists, with six-eight individuals. Each group meets for two and half hours weekly for 10 to 12 weeks. Individual therapy was allowed concurrently as needed.

Group Treatment for Childhood Sexual Abuse 

The women reported consistent improvements in a reduction of their trauma symptoms. Participation in the treatment group resulted in decreased depression and anxiety, and improvements in self-esteem. Change in a positive direction for trauma symptomatology was also reported.
