Research has highlighted the concept that depression, stroke, and cognitive dysfunction might be representations of cerebral microvascular disease. Some of the risk factors for this are hyperglycemia, insulin resistance, dsylipidemia, and hypertension. These are also the main risk factors for DPN. It has been found that cognitive dysfunction are commonly found in people with DFU, who also might have DPN.
