Auditory Pain Threshold

The auditory pain threshold represents the minimum sound intensity level at which sound begins to cause physical pain or discomfort in the human ear, which is typically around 130 decibels (dB). Exposure to sounds at or above this threshold, such as a jet plane taking off or a revolver firing at close range, can cause immediate pain and high risk of hearing damage (Dunkle, 1982).
