Automatic Thoughts in Cognitive Processes
Automatic thoughts refer to the spontaneous and often unconscious stream of thoughts that arise in response to specific situations or triggers. These thoughts can be positive, negative, or neutral. In MBCT, individuals learn to recognize their automatic thoughts and understand how they influence their emotions and behavior. Negative automatic thoughts, such as self-criticism or catastrophic thinking, can contribute to emotional distress and perpetuate psychological difficulties.
