Endrew was a child with autism who attended public school in the Douglas County School district from kindergarten through fourth grade. In April 2010, Endrew’s parents rejected the 5th grade IEP proposed by the Douglas County School District, as they viewed it to be the same as previous IEPs, where little progress had been made in Endrew’s academic and functional achievements. Endrew was then pulled out and enrolled in private school, where his behavior and academics significantly improved. Seeing this success, Endrew’s parents pursued tuition reimbursement for the cost of private school placement from the Douglas County School District.
