As indicated in Bonaccio's study, the depicted employment cycle shows employers' concerns about employees with disabilities at each given stage of the process. Concerns about accommodation come up primarily at the selection stage.

Bonaccio's study looks to understand the implications of employers' views and attitudes based on employer involvement and concern on specific management areas of the employment cycle.

Employees with disabilities are more likely to be subject to "underemployment, involuntary part-time or contingent employment, and lower than average salaries" (Bonaccio, et al.).  Even with legislation put in place to protect disability rights and opportunities, people with disabilities still experience lower employment participation than those without disabilities. This trend can be attributed to employers' pessimistic views concerning said employees' abilities.
