Bowlby's vs. Ainsworth's View on Attachment

While John Bowlby initially conceptualized attachment as an 'all-or-nothing' process, Mary Ainsworth's research provided a more nuanced perspective. Her work demonstrated that attachment is not simply present or absent; rather, children exhibit different styles or patterns of bonding with their caregivers.
