Brain Damage May Cause Specific Impairments in Reading
Sometimes people who learned to read just fine as children suddenly become dyslexic in adulthood as a result of disease or injury, usually to the left hemisphere. This acquired dyslexia (sometimes called alexia) reveals hints about how the brain processes written language.
