Bystander Intervention in Kitty Genovese's Murder

In contrast to the historically inaccurate 'Parable of the 38 Witnesses,' historical evidence and research, such as that by Kassin (2017), demonstrate that multiple bystanders did indeed intervene during the 1964 murder of Kitty Genovese. For instance, one neighbor shouted at the attacker, a woman reported calling the police, and a friend comforted her during her final moments. Furthermore, her killer was ultimately captured because other neighbors intervened by calling the police when they witnessed him committing a burglary several days later.
