"It was beneficial to have a hierarchical structure. For example, I often use a mind map to study. An advantage of the mind map is more freestyle in that I and can write things down and connect concepts/topics later to make connections. It tends to have radiation structure (expanding from the center to the outer), if not somewhat disorganized. But with the hierarchical map, such as 1Cademy, provided more structure between nodes, thus helped me to organize my thinking better."

Throughout the semester, we had presented either by going through the hierarchical topics or by presenting specific nodes students had prepared to present. Which method did you think was more effective for your learning and why?

"Hierarchal ones. I prefer learning through a structured schedule."

"I think going through topics was by far the best way of doing it. It can be disorienting to jump around from topic to topic, but I felt I could gain a deeper understanding of principles if we allowed students to present their nodes on similar and related topics."

"Heirarchical topics was much more effective to me because I felt when students chose to present they would start talking about an obscure topic and then we would spend most of the class on something very specific while I sometimes still did not understand the overarching concept."
