Short Answer

Calculating and Comparing Real Wages

An individual allocates their 24 hours per day between free time and work, with income from work being used for consumption. In one scenario, if they work for 8 hours (leaving 16 hours of free time), they can consume $160 worth of goods. In a second scenario, if they work for the same 8 hours, they can consume $200 worth of goods. In both scenarios, taking 24 hours of free time results in $0 of consumption. Calculate the real wage (in dollars per hour) for each scenario and explain which scenario's budget constraint would be steeper.
