Calculating Karim's Optimal Consumption with a Wage of €30

This example demonstrates the final step in finding an optimal consumption bundle. After calculus has been used to determine that the optimal amount of free time (tt) is 17 hours for a wage (ww) of €30, this value is substituted back into the budget constraint equation. The calculation is c=30(2417)=210c = 30(24 - 17) = 210, yielding an optimal consumption level of €210.
