Cannabis Use Disorder Differential Diagnosis; Nonproblematic use of cannabis

Approximately 20% to 30% of cannabis users experience symptoms and consequences that align with a cannabis use disorder, while the majority do not encounter significant problems. Differentiating between nonproblematic cannabis use and the disorder can be challenging, as individuals may not attribute social, behavioral, or psychological issues to cannabis, especially in cases involving the use of multiple substances. It is common for individuals referred to treatment by external parties, such as schools, families, employers, or the legal system, to either be unaware or unwilling to acknowledge the extent of their heavy cannabis use and its contribution to the associated problems.
