2021 Carbon Emissions Comparison: China, US, and India

An example of the different circumstances countries face in climate negotiations can be seen in 2021 emissions data. In terms of total emissions, China was the largest contributor, producing 31% of the world's total. The US was second, with emissions at 44% of China's level, followed by India. The perspective changes when viewed on a per-capita basis, where China's emissions were only 55% of the US level, and India's were just 13% of US emissions.
