Care for people with Leprosy in Brazil and Meaningful Learning Theory

A study of Brazilian nurses caring for disabled persons with leprosy as covered in the article “Knowledge and attitude about disabilities in leprosy: Effects of an intervention grounded on the Meaningful Learning Theory” found that employing Ausubel’s Meaningful Learning Theory in teaching said nurses about leprosy care resulted in a statistically significant change. Before the employment of AMLT, no nurse “presented 100% of correct answers and, after the intervention, this rate of correct answers was obtained in 2 items of the knowledge construct and 3 of the attitude construct…”.
