Challenges in Correlating Personality with Job Performance

A significant challenge in personnel selection is that it is not always clear how to best correlate personality traits with predictions of job performance. For example, while a high rating for 'agreeableness' might seem beneficial for a customer support role, an excessively high score could be a hindrance if it prevents the employee from correcting a customer's misperceptions to resolve an issue.
