Short Answer

Choosing a Visualization for Exploratory Economic Analysis

An economist begins an exploratory analysis with a large dataset of GDP per capita for all countries from 1950-2020. Their first task is to compare the growth trajectories of only the countries in South America during the 1990s. Would a single, pre-made graph showing all countries and all years be more or less effective than a tool that allows the user to select and filter the data? Justify your choice by identifying two specific functions the more effective tool provides for this task.
