A learning community where information is shared and evaluated by those within the community. This is a way for students to learn from one another, not just from their instructor/teacher.

In order to make platforms interactive and collaborative, online learning communities must employ to allow such things to occur. These design elements can include but are not limited to:

• discussion boards
• team projects/presentations
• peer evaluation
• communication outlets (chat box features, comments, etc.)
• interactive online activities
