Comparative Analysis of Land Use Contracts

A landowner possesses a plot of arable land, and a farmer has the labor to cultivate it. The landowner makes two separate, non-negotiable 'take-it-or-leave-it' offers to the farmer:

  1. Employment Contract: The farmer is paid a fixed wage for their labor, and the landowner claims the entire harvest.
  2. Tenancy Contract: The farmer pays a fixed rent to the landowner and claims the entire harvest.

Evaluate these two contract types from the perspectives of both the landowner and the farmer. In your evaluation, compare and contrast the arrangements in terms of risk allocation, potential for income, and the degree of autonomy each party retains.
