Concealment of the Secret of Love from the Self in Attar's Mokhtar Nameh (Poem 85)

In Poem 85 of the Mokhtar Nameh, Farid al-Din al-Attar describes the ultimate refinement of mystical love where the lover keeps the Beloved's love so deeply protected that it remains concealed even from their own soul (جان). This highlights a state of extreme spiritual jealousy (ghayrah) and containment, where the divine secret of love is kept hidden even from the lover's own conscious self.
