S- Stands for Survey which essentially means having a quick overview of the contents, chapters, going through headlines and subheadings to the end in order to have a general impression of the written material.


SQ3R Technique ( S part )


Q- stands for question
 In this part of the technique the reader should formulate questions based on the broad ideas that they grasped from the survey part. 


SQ3R Technique ( Q part )

R1- Means Read
 In this part the reader should read the passage carefully to pick out answers to the questions that were formulated. In the course of the reading, one has to look for answers to the questions formulated in the Q part. 


SQ3R Technique (  R1 part )


R2 means recite- In this part, the reader should try their best to recite everything that they remember from the reading. The ability to successfully do this demonstrates good understanding of the passage. Students should be encourage to recite the facts several times. 



SQ3R Technique ( R2 part )


R3- Means Review or Revise- As the reader comes to the end of the steps above they should go over the passage for better and more permanent understanding of the passage read. They should attempt to answer the questions they formulated in step two. 


SQ3R Technique ( R3 part )


This is another very useful study method and is most suitable for studying large and difficult materials. This method is used in higher institutions of learning and calls for distributed learning and distributed practice.


The ROSEMARY technique 

This type of study/reading habit is the most important one as it is the most optimal at consuming and storing knowledge. Researchers have come up with several different methods that yield the desired outcome in a learning situation. These techniques include the SQ3R technique and the Rosemary technique.

Effective Study Habits

To start a hobby is an activity that someone does because they get satisfaction or joy from doing it. After formal education some people like reading as their hobby. Its main purpose is to widen the readers horizon in many different areas that they find interesting. The act of reading as a hobby can make one be versatile in many different areas of knowledge. This type of reading is a positive one to learning as it improves one’s mental reasoning and satisfies their interests and aspirations

Hobbial

Reading for recreation or enjoyment is very common among the educational elite. When they come back from a long day of solving problems relating to the jobs they do, they normally desire a change by reading books, magazines, newspapers and other written materials that are of different interest to them. Students should also be encouraged to read other materials that they desire instead of textbooks or school related stuff all the time. Students who read magazines in their free time learn to relax and cool their brain to avoid mental fatigue. This type of studying allows for positive results as it keeps the students interests, helps them obtain more knowledge, and makes for a more well rounded and disciplined life in school.


Recreational

Concentration 

This kind of study habit is when the reader strays away from actual reading and instead pretends. This may lead to loss of interest in the acquisition of knowledge if this habit is not curbed in students. Reading textual materials by this method takes the form of Browsing or Brown study.
