Condition for Effective Time-Out: Removal from a Desirable Activity

A fundamental requirement for a successful time-out is that the child must be moved from an enjoyable activity to a location that is less desirable. The technique can be counterproductive if the child dislikes the initial activity, as being removed would then serve as a reward instead of a punishment.
