Contrast Between Sincere and Hypocritical Brotherhood in the Hadiqat al-Haqiqah
In the Hadiqat al-Haqiqah, Sana'i uses two adjacent tales to contrast genuine spiritual friendship with false claims of brotherhood. The story of sincere love (Section 26) demonstrates true companionship through a complete lack of possessiveness, as a friend freely takes from another's purse. Conversely, Umar's test (Section 27) exposes hypocrisy when supposed brothers refuse to share their wealth. This juxtaposition emphasizes that true spiritual brotherhood requires absolute financial transparency and detachment from worldly wealth, distinguishing it from superficial verbal claims.
