Counterintuitive Effect of Fines on Lateness in the Daycare Experiment

The introduction of a monetary fine in the daycare experiment led to a surprising outcome. Instead of deterring parents from being late, the fine resulted in the frequency of late pickups doubling. This outcome was observed by tracking the 'average number of late-coming parents, per week,' a metric presented in Figure 4.15.
