COVID and Digital Literacy: Methods

Study dimensions were outlined in order to define variables for a student questionnaire. Dimensions were outlined as follows: Dimension 1: Teacher’s professional engagement and collaboration Dimension 2: Digital learning and sources Dimension 3: Teaching and teachers guidance and skills Dimension 4: Supporting/empowering students Each dimension corresponded to several research questions asked of participants. The methodology of the study was quantitative with an exploratory descriptive scope. A questionnaire was designed with the objective of determining the state of digital literacy in Spain, Italy, and Ecuador respectively, as well as whether there exists a significant difference between countries. The study consisted of 376 undergraduate students between the ages of 18 and 40 who attended Autonomous University of Barcelona in Spain, University of Torino in Italy, or Technical University of Machala in Ecuador. Results were split by gender, age, and country for analysis.
