Women in most parts of the world tend to be over-represented in roles that involve face to face social interaction. This form of business, namely the service sector, have been hit hard by stay at home and social distancing measures. Men are more than twice as likely to have jobs which permit working from home than women. With closures of schools, female parents are more likely to spend more time on additional childcare duties than male parents. This is one of the first documented cases in the 20th and 21st century in which women have been financially hit harder than men.
