Covid-19 Economic Impact on Young People

People ages 18-24 were likely to see a cut of 50% or more of their weekly work hours from February to June. The United Kingdom is notable for its many government programs providing substantial financial support to companies keeping their employees, so these trends are likely only more extreme in nations which have had less aggressive strategies to blunt unemployment rates, namely the US. A poignant indicator of this impact, as of September of 2020, 52% of American young people (aged 18-29) are living with family members, the highest portion since the Great Depression.
