COVID-19 Secondary Attack Rate among Household Contacts and Non-household Contact in Guangzhou, China by Household Definition

  • Secondary attack rates when the household was defined on the basis of close relatives - The overall estimate secondary attack rate among all household contacts was 13.2% (95% CI: 10.9-15.7) - The overall estimate secondary attack rate among all non-household contacts was 2.4% (95% CI: 1.6-3.3) - Individuals less than 20 years of age were the least susceptible group as the estimated secondary attack rate was just 5.2% (95% CI: 2.4- 9.7) when compared to the estimated secondary attack rates of 14.8% (95% CI: 11.7-18.4) and 18.4% (95% CI: 12.5-25.6) among age groups 20-59 and those greater than or equal to age 60, respectively.
  • Secondary attack rates when the household was defined on the basis of residential address - The overall estimate secondary attack rate among all household contacts was 17.2% (95% CI: 14.1-20.6) - The overall estimate secondary attack rate among all non-household contacts was 2.6% (95% CI: 1.9-3.6).
