Critique of a Labor-Leisure Choice Analysis

An economist is analyzing a worker's daily choice between free time and consumption. The worker's set of attainable combinations is defined by a budget constraint, and their chosen point is 19.5 hours of free time with $105 of consumption.

A colleague presents the following argument: 'I have determined that the worker would be equally satisfied with an alternative combination of 21 hours of free time and $80 of consumption. Since this alternative provides the same level of satisfaction, the worker's actual choice cannot be considered optimal.'

Critique your colleague's argument. In your evaluation, explain the conditions required for a choice to be optimal and justify why the worker's choice is, in fact, the optimal one given the standard assumptions of this model.
