Cronos and Rhea had six children: Hestia, Demeter, Hera, Hades, Poseidon, and Zeus. According to Hesiod, Cronos swallowed all of his children except Zeus out of fear that they would commit patricide. Zeus escaped this fate because his mother Rhea hid him away.
