Cultural Variation in the Interpretation of Hallucinations

The interpretation of hallucinations is heavily influenced by cultural context. In many Western societies, experiencing hallucinations is typically viewed as a symptom of a psychological disorder. Conversely, in some other cultures, similar experiences, such as visions of future events, are considered normal and may even be highly valued.
