- The existing literature has not thoroughly examined the task management process. Instead, they look into the organization of task-related materials and the use of technology in completing tasks (rather than preparing for them)
- Not much information on task completion and planning in workplace settings (usually takes more of a cognitive approach)
- But, prior research has suggested the importance of external resources when completing tasks
- Email found to be an important source of task handling/reminders in previous studies
