In a large scale study of 44,672 confirmed COVID-19 cases (both in children and in adults), there were 965 deaths. Only one 14 year old boy died out of the 965 deaths.

This literature review looked at 45 scientific papers and articles (largely from China). Children, as of March, 23, 2020, have accounted for 1-5% of diagnosed COVID-19 cases. In general, children seem to have milder symptoms that rarely result in death.

The most common symptoms that 171 children with COVID-19 (in a specific study) had were cough (48.5%), throat redness (46.2%), and a fever of at least 37.5°C (41.5%). Less common symptoms were diarrhea (8.8%), and fatigue (7.6%).
