Deliverance from the Self and Divine Union in Attar's Mokhtar Nameh (Chapter 33, Poem 29)

In Poem 29 of Chapter 33 in Attar's Mokhtar Nameh, the poet expresses an urgent plea to be delivered from the burden of the self. By asking the divine to become his 'soul and body,' he highlights a state of spiritual emptiness without the divine presence. This reflects the central Sufi concepts of self-annihilation (fana) and the pursuit of true identity and subsistence (baqa) only through complete unity with the divine.
