Designing an E-commerce Experiment

An online retail company wants to determine if offering free shipping directly causes an increase in the average value of customer orders. Design a controlled experiment that the company could use to test this. Your description should clearly explain: 1) How you would set up the experiment with different groups of customers. 2) What specific data you would measure to see the effect. 3) What important conditions you would need to keep the same for all groups to be confident in your results.
