Concept
Determining the neutralizing effects of SARS-CoV-2 spike antibodies
The seroprevalence screening can tell researchers how robust the immune response to a certain antigen or virus is. However, it does not necessarily provide any information on the functionality of the antibody response. Determining the neutralizing effects of antibodies can give researchers insight into understanding the possible protective effects of the innate immune response. To determine if spike protein antibodies exert any neutralizing ability, a quantitative microneutralization assay based on authentic SARS-CoV-2 was performed with 120 ELISA samples with known titers ranging from 'negative' to 1:2880.
