Differentiating Bank Risks for Depositors

A friend tells you they are worried about keeping their money in a bank because the bank's stock price has been falling. In two or three sentences, explain why a widespread failure of the bank's borrowers to repay their loans is a more direct and fundamental threat to your friend's savings than a drop in the bank's stock value.
