Dosage of hydroxychloroquine as postexposure prophylaxis
Participants were randomly assigned to receive either placebo or hydroxychloroquine. The hydroxychloroquine dosage was 800 mg once, followed by 600 mg in 6 to 8 hours later, then 600 mg daily for 4 additional days for a total course of 5 days. This dosage was chosen because it was thought to achieve plasma concentrations above the SARS-COV-2 concentration for 14 days. Placebo tablets were prescribed as an identical regiment to the control group. The hydroxychloroquine and placebo were shipped overnight.
