Concept
East (Asia) vs. West (North America) with Parental Support
East Asian cultures value relational independence and relational harmony more than North American cultures. East Asian cultures won’t push adolescence independence the way western cultures do, but they’ll emphasize the desire to conform to societal/cultural standards much more. Adults in East Asian cultures move out their homes much later than North American adults do. Research has found that among western cultures, Chinese children had the highest amounts of care.
